Since he has no children of his own, he makes an offer to his late brother's two sons and daughter: each will receive a check for 5,000 marks. Whoever makes the most of it in a year will be appointed as his universal heir. While Gustav works on an invention and Christian opens an advertising agency, Hannelore starts her own fashion salon.
