At the funeral feast, the pretty widow Wally is courted by the pharmacist, the post office secretary and the professor. Now the brewmaster, who has long been a silent admirer of the widow, sees his moment. To show Wally who really loves her, he hatches a spooky plan together with the shepherd Sixtus. The deceased bridegroom must go around as a ghost, then the false suitors will stay away. Unfortunately, the gravedigger has the same idea, without the one knowing about the other.
