He refuses to wed the girl because he already has a sweetheart. Darus also knows that the old man, who had been his guardian since he was young, needs to borrow money from the banker to finance an abandoned housing project. Darus' disappearance worries his uncle greatly. When he comes across Darus' 'double', the crafty old man decides to pass him off as his nephew.
